Jan Stoneman majors in composition at Walnut Hill, taking lessons with Dr. Michael Weinstein. Last summer he studied with Dr. Martin Amlin at Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) Young Artist Composition Program (YACP). Living in Augsburg, Freiburg, Munich, Washington D.C., and Boston have contributed to his bilingualism in English and German. Piano and Saxophone are his main instruments. He has participated in three jazz bands and ensembles in and out of schools. His string quartet was awarded Emerging Artist in the NYAE Young Composer and was a finalist in the ASCAP Foundatiobn Morton Gould Young Composer Award. To listen to his music, go to last.fm.
